We have created a destination for all of your wine needs. We stock over 250 different labels picked by our staff. Our inventory is separated by country or food for matching and each wine falls into a class. With our classification system, distinguishing wines by color and character, you can easily narrow down your wine preference. We have created a straight-forward system that makes the buying and sharing experience an enjoyable one. You will find your next wine purchase by looking at our entire inventory or at our themed displays throughout the space. Going organic? Grilling some beef? 3rd date? We make it almost too easy.
Donnie Austin, owner and general manager of House Wine, became a Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers in June 2009. He is also the wine columnist for ThisWeekNews, a local suburban newspaper publication.
Another advantage of buying wine at House Wine is that we use simple icons to help you learn what general food goes with each type of wine. If you know what’s for dinner, we can help you pick out a wine that will complement it. If you know what type of taste you like (a crisp white or robust red?), you’ll find wine in a matter of seconds. We understand that consumers purchase wine in various ways, and our customer-friendly environment puts all at ease. A House Wine team member will also be able to assist you with finding your next favorite wine or answer any questions without the fuss.
Our comfortable and casual environment will allow you to open a bottle to enjoy on premise for a small corkage fee. We offer flatbreads, Italian meats, and an artisanal cheese plate to accompany your wine for more gratification, or you can bring in made-to-order Italian cuisine from our neighbor, Caffe Daniela. You can also try 24 different wines by the ounce or glass with our wine dispensing machines, a unique approaching to trying various wines and learning more about them.
House Wine will add to the charm of Old Worthington, partnering with and complementing our neighboring businesses. Our concept will become a destination for wine newbies and traveled veterans, bringing even more back to our community. House Wine will strive to conserve and protect our environment. The tables and bar area of House Wine came from the restored Birdsong Home in Old Worthington, built in 1841. House Wine will also point out producers who follow organic and biodynamic methods of grape growing and winemaking. We also recycle every wine bottle used on-premise.
